Possible problem with Maxi-Cosi Mico infant car seat

February 5, 2010 THE CANADIAN PRESS

OTTAWA - Transport Canada says it has detected a potential problem with an infant car seat distributed by Montreal-based Dorel Industries Inc. (TSX:DII.B).

Research testing by the federal agency has found that the Maxi-Cosi Mico infant seat may not lock fully when installed into its removable base.

As a result, the infant safety seat could separate from its base during a collision.

The federal agency says there has been no consumer report of injuries or separation in Canada but that Dorel is notifying its customers of the risk.

Transport Canada says the Maxi-Cosi Mico safety seats can still be used but owners should check that a release handle is pushed in properly and fully locked.

The agency is providing a diagram on its website and says Dorel Distribution Canada will send a letter to registered owners.
