Student's aid for Haiti a lesson in compassion

February 8, 2010

I am thrilled to be able to share a random act of kindness demonstrated by Nolan, a Grade 1 student at my school.

We started a Key to Kindness wall at our school, to respond to the devastation in Haiti. For every monetary donation to the Red Cross through the school, students receive a key to place on the wall.

I had barely made the announcement to kickstart this venture, when Nolan arrived at the school office, with a smile on his face, to say he was giving his snack money to the people in Haiti.

This simple act of kindness really touched me. Nolan, along with other students, are showing kindness at a time when it really counts.

Thanks, Nolan, for getting us started.
